The Iraqi – USA Strategic Dialogue:

The Iraqi government announced that in June it intends to start an important strategic dialogue in which it will define the relationship with the United States of America. The most important issues that will be discussed at the dialogue table:

1. Military relations, including the issue of the international alliance against terrorism, including the issue of weapons in the hands of gangs and militias, and other matters related to regional security.

2. Iran’s deep influence in Iraq, the trade exchange between Iraq and Iran and the import of electricity.

3. Files related to political and military personalities closely related to Iran will be present at the meeting!

4. As for economic issues, the United States has economic interests in Iraq in particular and the Middle East region in general, and it is likely that the endeavors of Russia and China will be discussed in extending their economic and political influence over Iraq, and how this harms American interests.

5. The issue of eliminating the Corona pandemic and assisting Iraq in its campaign to contain it. However, it has to be taken into account that no side specified who will attend the dialogue, nor the place and time other than setting the month of June.

6. Leaders in the popular mobilization forces (AL Hashd Al-shabi) and some militias affiliated with Iran considered the dialogue at this time is a danger to the future of Iraq since any decision that threatens them and their interests in Iraq will threaten the future of Iraq and pose a threat to its security!

7. At the same time, the US ambassador to Baghdad, Matthew Toiler, stressed that the dialogue is not limited to the security issue, but will also include economic, cultural and political aspects.

8. As for the demonstrators in general, they stress the necessity of the independence of the Iraqi decision, and the end of external interference in internal affairs since Iraqis determine their political, economic and security destiny for themselves without the interference of any external force.
