Nouri Kamel Muhammad Hassan Al-Maliki . He was born near Hilla city in 1950 in Iraq . He is married and has 4 daughters and a son. He holds a BA degree from the College of Fundamentals of Religion(Awsool Al- Deen college) in Baghdad, and MA degree in Arabic from Salahaddin University in Erbil. He is the Former Iraqi Prime Minister between 2006 and 2014, the former Vice President from Sep. 9, 2014 until Aug. 11, 2015, and the Secretary General of the Islamic Dawa Party.
Al-Maliki joined the Islamic Dawa Party in 1968, he was close to one of the party’s most important founders, Abdul Sahib Dakhil, who was executed in 1969 by burning him in acid. He left Iraq after the campaign against the Islamic Dawa Party after the fall of the Shah’s regime in Iran in Feb. 1979, he was sentenced to death in absentia because of his partisan activities, at that time he was working as an employee in the Education Directorate in Hilla city. He continued his party work and was chosen as a member of the party’s political office, also became the leader of the jihadist line of the Dawa Party.
After the fall of Saddam Hussein’s regime on Apr. 9, 2003, he returned to Iraq after 25 years. He was chosen as an alternate member of the Iraqi Governing Council, which was established by the Coalition Provisional Authority headed by Paul Bremer. He also held the position of Vice-President of the Interim National Council, and contributed in the establishment of the United Iraqi Alliance bloc , he was its official spokesman, which nominated him to hold the responsibility of leading the Security and Defense Committee in the National Assembly. He participated in the Iraqi constitution drafting committee, of which he was a member.
In the 2010 elections, he personally received 720 thousand votes in Baghdad, where his list got 89 seats in the Parliament, and after 8 months of holding the elections, he was able to win the position of Prime Minister.
