Muqtada Al sadr “The Iraqi government should work seriously against armed groups targeting Iraqi security and its citizens, it does not matter who they belong to. I have information about those groups and they are hired to riot and create instability in Iraq,” he said in his tweet without being specific about which groups he meant.
There are numerous armed groups in Iraq. Sadr himself notoriously lead the Mahdi Army during the 2000s and his movement currently has affiliated militia groups.
In July 2018, a cache of weapons suspected of belonging to his Saraya al-Salam militia exploded in Sadr city killing twenty people and wounding 110.
